The New Year in Japan
2014年12月27日
New Year’s Day is a very important holiday in Japan. It is traditionally a time spent in your hometown, with one’s family. The first, second and third days of January are public holidays so everyone has the opportunity to visit their family. One feature of the new year’s holiday is special food called o-sechi, which is only served at this time of year. There are many small dishes included, some made from fish, some from beans, others are pickled. It is also tradition to eat sticky rice cakes called mochi. Maybe you can try it someday!
